SWAY plc AND VIRTUEBROADCASTING PARTNER TO
CREATE CITYCAST AS THE LEAD PROVIDER OF STREAMING MEDIA SERVICES
TO THE FINANCIAL SECTOR
London, June 14, 2001: SWAY plc, the specialist financial services
consultancy and marketing agency, and Europe's leading Internet
broadcaster VIRTUE Broadcasting Ltd have partnered to launch today
CityCast, an Internet based media streaming service for the financial
sector.
CityCast will enable providers and intermediaries to transform
their communications to their clients. Instead of reliance purely
on published material, that can never truly communicate as well
as face to face, CityCastTM can take a brand new communication platform
to the financial services sector. The power of television is about
to be unleashed via the Internet, except that the strategic advantage
of the net, with on-demand footage permanently available, will re-write
the financial services communication landscape. Cost benefit evaluation
is also likely to be enhanced beyond recognition.
CityCast was conceived after SWAY plc conducted industry wide research
into intermediaries' usage and experiences of the Internet in the
last quarter of 2000, allied to their continual evaluation of Internet
capabilities.
Announcing CityCastTM, Jon Maguire, CEO of SWAY said:
"Our approach with CityCastTM has been threefold; to greatly
reduce the cost of creating video output, to create as near real-time
production process as is possible and to secure a partnership with
a market leader in streaming both live and on demand Internet broadcasts.
The move of the Internet from being a publishing medium to broadcast
represents one of the biggest single communication challenges facing
businesses of all kinds. It creates a far more demanding and dynamic
environment where video plays a pivotal role," said Jon Maguire,
SWAY's CEO.
Giles English, President of VIRTUE Broadcasting said, "We're
delighted to be partnering with SWAY plc on CityCast. In this increasingly
global arena it is vital for product providers and intermediaries
to offer their services both live and on demand via Internet broadcasting."
The CityCastTM team will work alongside providers and intermediaries
to help them develop their broadcast capabilities, content and output.
