Plug-ins and Players

You will need either Windows Media Player and / or Real Player to view streaming video content on our Web site.

Test your system to see if you already have Windows Media Player or Real Player.

Note:

  1. For Windows 98 or 2000 please select: Player 7 for Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows Me.
  2. For Windows 95 or NT 4.0 please select: Player 6.4 for Windows 95 and NT 4.
  3. For Nestscape Navigator on an Intel-based PC you will need a "plug-in" for Windows Media Player.
  4. Mac users will need the most recent version on Windows Media Player to view some of the content on this web site.
Browser/Preferences

Please ensure that the "Preferences" settings (Netscape) and "Internet Options" settings (Internet Explorer) are set up to use Media Player and/or Real Player to view the various stream formats inlcluding .asf, .wma, .wmv, .asx (Windows Media Player) and .rm, .ram, .rpm, .smil (Real Player).

Note:These settings are usually done automatically when the player is installed.

Speed Settings

The speed settings on our site are set up to cover the most common bandwidth configurations. Please select the speed that best represents your current connection and speed.

For example:
Dial Up Modem connection - 56,000 Kbps
Connection via office network - 128,000 Kbps
Cable/DSL connection - 300,000 Kbps

Firewalls/Networks

If you are accessing streamed video at an office their are known issues involving firewalls and proxy servers that will not allow video through internal networks.

Other Issues

There are a number of factors that can cause problems with viewing video files over the Internet. The videos provided at this site have been created with most of these issues in mind. However, problems can occur at the network or user level which are beyond our control.
